Marsaxlokk Fischer and Marsascala Mor€ registered victories over bottom team Ta’ Xbiex Amigos and second-placed Otters Nivea respectively as the First Division programme was resumed yesterday.

The main source of inspiration for Marsascala was their Spanish player Sergi Mora who helped himself to a seven-goal tally.

After a close first session the southerners pulled clear in the middle quarters as they took a 12-8 lead before finishing on 16-13.

Otters battled to keep in contention especially through Ivan Vuksanovic, who netted a double hat-trick. But in the end the better team won. The outcome was that Pierre Borg’s team have moved six points above Otters with the latter side having a game in hand.

In the preceeding match, Marsaxlokk scored three late goals, through Bence Fulope and Mark Fenech, to go on the seven-point mark, one below Otters, with Ta’ Xbiex anchored at the foot of the standings with one point.

The contest was balanced at first but then Marsaxlokk dug deep to end comfortable winners.
