Last year, we contacted the Times of Malta newsroom to complain that no learning support assistants were provided for the Attard Klabb 3-16 government summer school.
For our son, a four-year-old autistic boy, attending school even in summer is crucial.
Going to school is part of his therapy. We decided to send him anyway but the service offered scored low on standards.
This year, despite the initial hiccups, we must congratulate the programme coordinator, the coordinator in charge at the Attard centre and teachers for the excellent service provided and also for their commitment towards social inclusion.
Not only were LSAs made available but coordinators also kept the class sizes small and they are taking place in a safe and clean environment where no maintenance work is being done.
The activity programme is also varied, including going on outings and playing water games, among others. Our children are really happy and, actually, sometimes complain about having to return home when the time is up!
