Obituary

CACHIA ZAMMIT. On July 30, at Mater Dei Hospital, Dr ALEXANDER (Sandy) CACHIA ZAMMIT, aged 89, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss his beloved wife Doris, née Martin, his children Kathryn and her husband John Gambin and John and his wife Daniela, his grandchildren Julian, Adrian, Alexander, Edward, Francesca, Richard and Andrew, his sisters Teresa and Margaret and his sisters-in-law Blanche, May, Terry, Rose and Connie, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be concelebrated tomorrow at 9.30am at St Catherine’s parish church, Żejtun. The funeral cortège will then proceed to St Gregory’s Cemetery, Żejtun, accompanied by the Beland Band, of which he was president for the last 54 years. Donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, and to the Poor Clare Sisters (Klarissi), St Julian’s, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MAISTRE. On July 30, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARY ROSE née Grech, of Kalkara, aged 70, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Antoine, her son Konrad and his wife Sonja, her grandchildren Jennifer, Luca and Matteo, her brother Edgar and his family, her aunt Doris and her family, her in-laws, their respective families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.45pm for St Joseph parish church, Kalkara, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 2.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar  tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

SAMMUT ALESSI. On July 31, CARMEL, known as ‘C’, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss his daughters Eve and Wendy and her husband Sean, his grandson Len; his brothers Bernard and his wife Mary, Tony and his wife Carmen; his sisters-in-law Doris and her husband Oliver, Mary and her husband Henry, Connie and her husband Johnny and brother-in-law Henry and his wife Catherine, nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be concelebrated on August 6 at 2.30pm at St Helen’s Basilica, Birkirkara, followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. SPITERI. On July 31, at Boffa Hospital, EMANUEL of Ħamrun, former employee at Inland Revenue Department and John’s Garage, aged 63, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Doreen, née Baldacchino, his daughters Glenda and her husband Adam Spiteri, and Charissa, his son Gareth and his fiancée Claudia, his grandchildren Avner and Karemm, his brother Paul, his sisters Francina, Salvina and Carmen and their respective families, his in-laws Salvinu and his wife Carmen, Eddie and Rosanne, Neville and his partner Rena, Margaret and her husband Louis Frendo, Silvana and her husband Joe Fino, Rupert and his wife Teresa, Marica and her husband Joe, Vano and his wife Debbie, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.45pm for St Cajetan parish church, Ħamrun where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. TARPEY. On July 31, at Mater Dei Hos­pital, STEPHEN (PS 1417) of Sliema and residing in Tarxien, aged 47 years, passed away peacefully comforted by the Rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Maureen née Pullicino, his beloved son James, his father Brian and his mother Patricia May, his sisters Elaine and Louise and her husband Stirling, his parents-in-law Francis and Josephine, his grandmother-in-law Melita, his sisters-in-law Tania and her husband Stephen and Nikita and her fiancé Christopher, his niece Daniela and her fiancé Eric, other relatives and friends, and his superiors and colleagues in the Malta Police Corps. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8am, for Our Lady of the Annunciation parish church in Tarxien, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.
