Two siblings with a passion for shoes have declared their trust in European handmade quality footwear by displaying signs outside their shop proclaiming their products are not made in China.

One sticker reading: “All our shoes are proudly not made in China” is plastered on the door jamb of the British Shoe Store in Valletta and another, “Everything you see inside is NOT made in China”, is displayed in the shop window.

The outlet has been run by Lorenza Zammit since 1967. She was joined by her sister, Georgina, two years later.

“How can you compare a pair of shoes made in Italy with one made in China,” she said, adding that although the design was good, the value was not.

But China is not their only concern.

One should always try a pair of shoes first, so, forget buying over the internet, they said. “For the perfect size and fit, always try them on.”
