Costa: Former Valencia captain Ricardo Costa has taken a new turn in his career by joining Qatari side Al-Sailiya. Last week the 33-year-old defender rescinded his contract with Valencia a year before it was due to expire. The Portugal international had been tipped to return to Porto, the club where he made his pro debut n 2000, but has decided to leave Europe altogether in search of a new adventure.

Perisic: Wolfsburg forward Ivan Perisic looks set to miss the start of the Bundesliga season after fracturing his shoulder. The Croatia international suffered the injury during the Telekom Cup match against Bayern Munich on Sunday, having to be withdrawn after 21 minutes. The 25-year-old will now undergo surgery to fix the problem. The Wolves begin their Bundesliga campaign Bayern on August 22.

Valdez: Eintracht Frankfurt have completed the signing of striker Nelson Valdez. The 30-year-old has penned a two-year deal after spending last season with Al-Jazira in the United Arab Emirates while also going out on loan at Olympiakos. The Paraguayan has also played for Borussia Dortmund, Hercules, Rubin Kazan and Valencia and will be reunited with head coach Thomas Schaaf who he played under at Werder Bremen, winning a league and cup double in 2004.

Granero: Spanish midfielder Esteban Granero has left promoted Queens Park Rangers for La Liga side Real Sociedad. Granero spent last season on loan at the Spanish side but a bad knee injury restricted him to four appearances. He arrived at Loftus Road from Real Madrid in 2012, making 28 appearances in a debut campaign in which Rangers were relegated from the Premier League.

Robertson: Scotland left-back Andy Robertson has agreed a deal to sign for Hull. Dundee United accepted Hull’s bid for the 20-year-old last week and the player held talks with the Premier League club to see if the move was right for his development. A deal has now been done to continue Robertson’s meteoric rise following his move from amateur side Queen’s Park to Tannadice last summer.

Ayew: Jordan Ayew, the son of Ghana great Abedi Pele, has left Olympique Marseille to sign a four-year contract with Ligue 1 rivals Lorient. The player, who made his debut for Marseille in 2009, spent the second half of last season on loan at Sochaux after finding opportunities limited at his parent club. “The style and quality of play offered at Lorient suits me perfectly,” said Ayew, 22, who played all three of Ghana’s matches at the World Cup.
