Josef Formosa Gauci, CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority, is to step down after six years in the post.

His departure will come into force after a new CEO is appointed and a hand-over takes place, informed sources said.

A new MTA board was named last week, the term of the previous one having expired in May.

Former Labour MP Gavin Gulia was confirmed as chairman.
