Juventus start the defence of their Serie A title at Chievo next month but the pick of the first-day fixtures announced yesterday will see last season’s runners-up Roma host Fiorentina who finished fourth.

The opening weekend, on August 30-31, also features Milan entertaining Lazio.

Milan are at home to the champions in week three when new Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri will return to face his former club.

Roma travel to Juventus on October 5 while the Milan derby is not until November 23 on the same weekend as Lazio-Juventus.

The first Derby d’Italia – Juventus vs Inter – is pencilled for January 5.

Inter vs Napoli is the big game of Week 7, Milan vs Fiorentina in Week 8, Napoli vs Roma in Week 10 and Fiorentina vs Napoli in Week 11.

Last season’s runaway Serie B champions Palermo, who won the title by 17 points, entertain Sampdoria on the opening weekend.

Cesena, who won the Serie B play-offs, launch their campaign at home to Parma.

Roma vs Lazio arrives in Week 18, which also means it will be the penultimate round of the campaign.

The final round of the Serie A season includes Napoli vs Lazio, Verona vs Juventus and Roma vs Palermo.

There are four midweek rounds planned on September 24, October 29, January 6 and April 29.

Atalanta vs Verona
Cesena vs Parma
Chievo vs Juventus
Genoa vs Napoli
