The US State Department releases images that it says offer evidence that Russian forces fired across the border at the Ukrainian military last week. Nathan Frandino reports.

The images appear to show what the US says are artillery strikes originating on the Russian side of the border.

One image purports to show impact craters around Ukrainian military locations.

The State Department says the images are proof that Russian-backed separatists inside Ukraine also fired on the Ukrainian military, using weapons supplied by Russia.

Russia says there has been no evidence of military violations and that it has not supplied weapons to rebels..

The images span from July 20 to July 26.
