The daughter of a man who was imprisoned over allegedly invented sexual abuse claims was taken to court today and admitted perjury.

48-year-old Emanuel Camilleri had been condemned to two years imprisonment, confirmed on appeal, for allegedly sexually abusing his daughter. He was released by order of the Constitutional Court after spending 400 days in jail when it was shown that his daughter was told by her mother to give false evidence.

The daughter, Lianne Camilleri, 20, admitted perjury in court today. The case was put off to next month to enable her to reconsider her plea. A pre-sentencing report is also expected to be ordered.

Her mother is also undergoing perjury proceedings.

The man has always maintained his innocence and kept up the fight to clear his name.
