The doctors’ union yesterday registered an industrial dispute with the University over sole recognition at the Medical School.
In a letter to Noel Vella, director of industrial and employment relations, the general secretary of the Medical Association of Malta, Martin Balzan, warned it was determined to order industrial action if the University proceeded with signing a collective agreement with the Malta Union of Teachers and the University of Malta Academic Staff Association.
The MAM also plans to issue sympathy directives throughout the health service.
It said it would “welcome conciliatory action” by Dr Vella and a verification of members.
