The Medical Association of Malta is threatening industrial action throughout the health service over the government’s collective agreement with lecturers.

Registering an industrial dispute with the university, the association said it had sole recognition at the Malta Medical School and should participate and have signatory rights in any general agreement for academic employees at the university.

“MAM remains determined to order industrial action if the university proceeds with the current agreement with UMASA/MUT at University.

“MAM also intends to issue directives in sympathy throughout the health service, where there are indeed a significant number of pending issues.”
