Top division side Floriana continued to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season after completing the signings of Nigel Sultana and Marco Mercieca.

“Considered by many as one of the best players of his generation, Nigel Sultana will not only improve the squad for the upcoming season but he’s also an essential player for the long-term future of the club,” Floriana said in a statement.

Sultana, who played for Depiro, was also part of the Malta squad that won a historic silver medal at the Small Nations Champion-ships, played in Gibraltar, earlier this month.

The Greens have also reached an agreement with Luxol over the transfer of Mercieca.

Mercieca has won several honours with Luxol, helping the team to success in the Louis Borg Cup last season.

In the last few years, Mercieca was also the captain of Luxol, the only team he has represented in his senior career before his move to the Greens.

“Marco Mercieca will surely bring a wealth of experience to a relatively young squad,” Floriana said.
