Ever fancied giving stand-up comedy a try? Now is your chance, with The Chicken Coop back. Inspired by the London circuit clubs, The Chicken Coop is a monthly event featuring local comedian Steve Hili.

“Local stand-up comedy has really only picked up during the last year-and-a-half, but a number of comedians are creating waves and the energy and drive around the scene is incredible. We love the idea of creating alternative, fearless and relevant comedy,” Hili said.

Hili himself has performed on the London circuit and hopes that The Chicken Coop can help local comedians take the same step. To this end, every month a complete newbie is being given the chance to do a set.

“We want the stand-up community in Malta to grow and flourish. We want more people to feel the rush of getting up in front of an audience and making them laugh.

“Once you get bitten by the stand-up bug, you are never the same again.”

To win a chance of being on stage for a Chicken Coop show, send a video of yourself delivering your best ‘chicken’ joke to jameson@farsons.com. The joke deemed to be the best by The Chicken Coop team wins the chance to get on stage.

The Chicken Coop is on Thursday at Django, Valletta, with Steve Hili as MC and Matt Bonanno, Marie-Claire Pellegrini and Malcolm Galea performing. Entrance is free.
