New walking trails have been launched by Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis as part of the MaltaGoesRural project, financed by the European Union.

The aim of the trails are to attract more rural tourism to Malta.

In all, nine new trails were identified by the Malta Tourism Authority. Six are included in a leaflet offering tourists the necessary information to follow the routes. Some, he said, can even be enjoyed by cyclists.

The Qrendi mayor, said Qrendi would be getting €200,000 from the same fund to repair the road which leads from Maqluba to the megalithic temples.
