Hundreds of migrants are believed to have died in the tragedy. A total of 29 bodies were brought to Malta.

The prayers were held at Mater Dei's mortuary multi-faith room.

A total of 21 migrant bodies were released earlier today after autopsies, toxicological and DNA tests were carried out. The rest will be released as soon as the process is concluded.

The ministry said 28 bodies will be buried at the Addolorata Cemetery and one at the Turkish cemetery.
