Will someone from Transport Malta or the Sliema local council ensure that the ‘No access beyond this point’ sign, situated opposite HSBC in High Street, Sliema, to warn drivers that driving beyond that point is illegal (for very obvious reasons), is correctly aligned?

The traffic sign has been the target of vandals on a number of occasions, either turned 180 degrees, effectively facing the wrong direction, or, at one time, having been completely removed!

I have seen drivers, local and foreign, driving beyond this sign, either going down Tower Road towards The Strand or turning into Tigné Street to access the basement garage situated in the lower part of that road.

Should my letter prompt either the traffic watchdog or the council to take action, I highly recommend they take a welding set. Welding the sign at the correct angle will hopefully prevent the joker or jokers from carrying out their sick joke, unless they come equipped with a grinder!
