The battle for supremacy in this year’s BOV National League resumes in earnest this evening when leaders Neptunes Grimaldi take on fierce rivals Sliema Frank Salt Real Estate in the programme’s second game, starting at 8pm.

Four points clear at the top, Neptunes start favourites to claim maximum spoils at the expense of their faltering adversaries who trail in third place, five points behind the Reds.

Sliema will undoubtedly be looking at their clash with the champions as an opportunity to kickstart their erstwhile inconsistent campaign.

With Neptunes having to work harder than expected to see off Sirens Ritter Sport 10-9 in their Knock-Out semi-final, Sliema will be hoping that the Reds’ exertions on Wednesday night will catch up with them this evening.

There are also question marks over Steve Camilleri’s participation in the derby as the Neptunes ace played no part in the midweek semi-final due to a shoulder problem.

The KO final will be another Neptunes-Sliema contest after the latter had the better of Valletta McDonald’s 16-12 in Tuesday’s semi-final.

In other games, San Ġiljan will be looking to consolidate second place in the standings when they meet Valletta while Sirens, buoyed by their bold performance against Neptunes in the KO, look to have an edge over Exiles Ferretti who prop up the Premier League table with only two points.
