Unless the government moved a motion for the impeachment of Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco for debate before the summer recess, the judge would retire without a decision having been taken about him, the Nationalist Party said.

It said in a statement that justice should be equal to all but the government was showing it was willing to hinder it or involve itself in the process for it not to be done.

The PN said that it would continue to insist with the government to see that justice was implemented and challenged the Justice Minister to allow Parliament to debate the motion rather than adjourn for the holidays.

It also noted that the government failed to take steps against the chairman of Gozo Channel who himself admitted he did not involve the police in a case where €4,000 were stolen before the media got hold of the story.
