The Teatru Manoel Youth Theatre (TMYT) will be taking part in the Tin Forest International Theatre Festival being held in Glasgow, Scotland tomorrow.
TMYT will be performing Club, a devised piece which they first performed as part of the Żigużajg Festival in November 2013.
Malta is one of only 10 countries chosen to perform in the National Theatre of Scotland’s largest international youth project. Three further members of TMYT are also flying to Scotland to join an ensemble of 90 young actors drawn from the 71 nations and territories of the Commonwealth. They will flood the city with site-responsive theatre around iconic Glasgow locations.
“The opportunity to export our homegrown talent is very exciting. We are now beginning to reap the benefits of the investment we are making in the theatre’s education programme by developing the next generation of artistes and have them proudly stand on the international stage,” said Ray Attard, the Manoel’s CEO.
TMYT is part of the Toi Toi education programme of the Manoel and was formed two years ago with the aim of offering advanced training to young actors (between the ages of 16-25) intent on pursuing a career in theatre.
