I was not surprised to see the results obtained by our students in the four core subjects in the Sec exam. This trend has been happening for a long time. We must also bear in mind that, besides school lessons, many students also had private lessons in most of the four subjects.
What I want to know is the results of the students attending State schools, which fall under the direct responsibility of the minister.
What is the percentage of school leavers who sat for the exam? Where are the results for the money spent in State schools for smart boards, learning support assistants and the personal attention dedicated to students who encounter psychological or academic difficulties?
Why is it that most teachers seem to prefer to teach in Church or private schools and parents’ ambition is to send their children to Church schools or are even willing to pay to send them to private schools?
