“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colours. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.” – Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky.

Four musicians are coming together for Winds of Change, two concerts of classical music for piano and wind instruments at the music room of St James Cavalier on Friday and Saturday at 7.30pm. The concept has both personal and musical significance for the pianist organising the concerts, Erik Azzopardi, who has been away from Malta for 10 years.

He returns with a recital of modern works for flute, bassoon and piano with two good friends of his from the UK: Guildhall School of Music and Drama graduates Daniel and Gemma Emson-Jukes, on bassoon and flute respectively. The three will perform duets and trios by various composers. Azzopardi will also be joined on stage by old friend and virtuoso clarinettist Godfrey Mifsud for performances of the Poulenc Clarinet Sonata.
