The CricHQ Summer League, organised by the Malta Cricket Association, continued last weekend with two games and Krishna CC were involved in a double header.

Krishna played Marsa CC first and opened the batting, totalling 118 runs from their allotted overs.

Tony Azzopardi had 26 runs, Sam Aquilina 25 and Simon Lavendar 22, rounding up the top scorers for the team.

Marsa bowled reasonably well, Bikram Arora claiming two wickets and Ravi Sharma, Tim Wheeler and Chris Naudi taking one each.

Krishna looked as though they were up to the job in bowling, dismissing six batsmen for 37 runs but then Arora and Sharma came to the fore.

Arora struck 40 runs from 26 balls and Sharma added 25 from 14 balls to put the team back in the reckoning.

Marsa went on to make the required runs in the 18th over to chalk up 13 points to their tally.

Krishna only had one point to show in the end. Sarfraz Ali took three wickets.

Krishna CC’s next match was against Marauders who batted first and made 118 runs from their allotted overs.

Paul Bradley top-scored with 33, Sean Byrne had 25 and Phill Gibbs 18. Kevin Krishna took two wickets while junior player Ali Hamza felled a wicket in his league debut.

Azzopardi was consistent in his team’s reply, hitting 25 runs as Haroon Majeed had 42 and Sam Aquilina 17 before the target was reached at the 16th over.

For Marauders, Sean Byrne and Paul Bradley were the only wicket-takers as Krishna made up for their upset to Marsa CC to add 13 points on the scoreboard.

Next weekend sees the return of Leyland CC. They will be here on their seventh tour to play in a three-game series.
