Writing in these columns a few days ago, I expressed my disappointment that an email to the Senglea local council, a postal letter to the mayor of Senglea, two emails to Lidl Supermarket and three emails to three different importers were not even acknowledged. But...

Some 15 months ago my wife bought a whistling kettle from a particular supermarket but all of a sudden the kettle stopped whistling. When we filled it with water, we realised that some of the water was finding its way to the space between the kettle’s double bottom.

I sent a short email to the importers, Messrs PV Muscat Ltd (Tescoma), Marina Wharf, Pietà and explained what had happened.

Less than an hour later I received an email back from Messrs Muscat in which they expressed regret at what had happened and invited me to take the kettle back to them.

They welcomed me with a smile, excused themselves as if they were to blame for the incident and, without asking any questions, and though I could not produce my receipt, they gave me a credit note of nearly €37, the exact price we had paid for the kettle.

I leave any comments tothe readers.
