This is Qbajjar seafront at summer’s peak. Works on the new electricity poles and railings were only started in June and they decided to dig up the pavement.
Works moved at a snail’s pace with only a couple of workers at any time. Now works are at a complete stop with rubble strewn off the pavement onto the road.
Pedestrians are now required to walk on the road in pitch darkness alongside the two way traffic.
Before the embellishment work, we were reduced to using torch light on our late evening strolls. Now we can’t even usethe pavement.
To our pleas as to why these works weren’t done earlier in the year, the answer from the Żebbuġ council was: “Do you expect them to work in winter?”!
