Napoli forward Jose Callejon has revealed the club turned down a big money offer for his services from Atletico Madrid this summer.

Callejon, 27, moved to Napoli last year from Real Madrid and went on to score 20 times in all competitions. That has apparently led to interest from both Barcelona and Atletico, who are in the market for a new striker after seeing Diego Costa, David Villa and Adrian Lopez leave.

According to Callejon, Atletico tabled a bid in excess of €25 million and although the former Espanyol man would never rule out a return to Madrid, he is happy to remain with Napoli.

When asked about Atletico’s bid, Callejon said: “My agent told me about it. But I really want to play in this shirt and have another four years on my contract. I feel good here, I feel the affection of the people.

“In football, never say never, but with (Napoli boss Rafael) Benitez I have my freedom and I do not want to give it up.”
