The Nationalist Party has called for an urgent parliamentary debate on the situation in Libya which it said was deteriorating.

It said in a statement it had moved a motion for such a debate last week but the government had not responded yet.

This debate, the PN said, should be held urgently and before the House rose for the summer recess, especially since many Maltese people were not finding the desired assistance from the Maltese embassy there.

During this debate, the PN said, the government should give an overview of its plans for the possible of evacuation of Maltese nationals in Libya.
