Holidaymaker hassles are more about travelling to and from a resort than difficulties once there, according to a Which? study.

Flight delays or cancellations topped the list of grumbles, followed by long waits to reclaim baggage, the survey of 2,079 Britons found.

After that, the biggest hassle was accommodation being different to what was described and unhelpful or rude staff.

Delays and cancellations to forms of transport other than planes was also a cause for complaint, as well as a lack of information and unclean accommodation.

The survey showed that 15 per cent of those who had been on holiday over the past two years had encountered a problem.

Nearly two-thirds (64 per cent) said if something went wrong with their holiday they would usually make a complaint.

Yet only 54 per cent said they felt confident they know their rights if there’s a mishap.

Which? executive director Richard Lloyd said: “People don’t deserve to come back from holiday as stressed out as when they left.

“This summer, we’re asking travellers to share their getaway gripes so we can expose the dodgy deals and shoddy service.”
