Every now and then someone, with an obvious personal agenda, writes for Bisazza Street, Sliema, to be de-pedestrianised.

No valid reason is given except to further the interests of Qui-si-Sana residents.

It appears that these people think they should be privileged insofar as traffic flow is concerned.

They do not seem to realise that the traffic passing through Qui-si-Sana is the same that passes all along Tower Road.

So what are the concerns of the residents of Qui-si-Sana? Are the concerns of residents of Tower Road different? And yet Aldo Portelli, writing in The Sunday Times of Malta (June 22), opines that he is really surprised how the Sliema council can “strongly oppose” the reopening of Bisazza Street. As if that were not enough, he added: “Is the welfare of the residents of Qui-si-Sana not of any concern to the mayor and the rest of the council?”

Nonsense! No further comment is necessary.
