A new type of construction brick which would help to increase energy efficiency in buildings is being developed by RA and Sons Manufacturing Ltd in Xewkija, Gozo.

The project is being co-financed by the Research and Innovation Programme, which is being piloted by the Malta Council for Science and Technology.

During a recent onsite visit, the chairman of the Building Industry Consultative Council, Charles Buhagiar, lauded this initiative and said it would be crucial to reach the EU 2020 targets on energy.

Preliminary tests have been encouraging and the company is planning to put the product on the market by autumn of next year.
