Times of Malta has done a sterling job of exposing the nepotism at the heart of the Labour administration. In revealing that Sai Mizzi – the Energy Minister’s wife – is receiving over €13,000 every month in a quasi-ambassadorial pay package, it has revealed the PL to be just as crooked and meretricious as the PN oligarchy it supplanted.

So much for those cheesy pompous PL ads screened in movie theatres – in the run-up to the last election – portraying a wrinkled patriotic geezer lecturing a group of fickle youth about the importance of “Maltese principles and independence in the face of adversity”.

It is also educational to read that after being questioned about her extravagant all-expenses-paid package, and after denying what has just been exposed, Mizzi “struggled to hold back tears, telling journalists that the criticism hurt her”.

She even had the cheek to play the xenophobia card, arguing that journalists were picking on her only because she was Chinese. Classic!
