A total of 1,207,361 commuters travelled between Malta and Gozo in the second three months of this year, 4.9 per cent more than in the same period last year, the National Statistics Office said.

The NSO said that the highest number of commuters 416,710 (34.5 per cent), was recorded in May. The number of vehicles carried by scheduled vessels increased
by 8.5 per cent, to 318,514.

The number of trips in the quarter under review stood at 4,822, an increase of 0.6 per cent. The majority of trips took place in May.
