Has anyone noticed that the statue of St Paul has lost a part of its hand? This statue, which marks the centenary celebrations held in 1960, is an iconic landmark of St Paul’s Bay and the island named after the patron saint of Malta.

The St Paul’s Bay local council and the government heritage department should act fast to restore this statue and its base. Since it is highly exposed to the elements, particularly to the rush of sea water all year round, it has to be taken care of more often.

Next to the statue is a partly demolished room which has also become victim to the elements hitting the island. This needs to be restored too.

I hope that restoration works on this beautiful island will start as soon as possible.
