Prime Minister Joseph Muscat told European Commission President-elect Jean Claude Juncker today that Malta agreed with the political direction he was taking but he had to ensure this was translated into concrete action.

Mr Juncker gave a warm welcome to Dr Muscat in Brussels.

They also discussed the duties that Malta’s Commissioner-nominee Karmenu Vella could be given. More talks will be held, although there appeared to be broad agreement between the two.

Dr Muscat and Mr Juncker also met in Malta few months ago before the European elections.

Dr Muscat also met European Parliament president Martin Schulz with whom he discussed the EP’s agenda for the coming years.
