Stanley Ohawuchi’s prospects of continuing his career overseas have increased further with Ferencvaros the latest club to sound out Sliema Wanderers about the Nigerian striker.

The Blues narrowly missed out on a place in the second qualifying round of the Europa League after losing 3-2 on aggregate to the Hungarian team.

Ohawuchi, 24, was one of Sliema’s star players over the two legs and his showings have caught the attention of the Ferencvaros coaching staff, led by former Germany international Thomas Doll.

Sources told Times of Malta that a top Ferencvaros official expressed his club’s interest in Ohawuchi after last week’s second leg in Budapest.

The Nigerian, who joined Sliema in January 2013, capped a lively performance with a well-taken goal as the Blues drew 1-1 with Ferencvaros in the opening leg at the National Stadium. Ohawuchi also had his bright moments in last week’s second leg that saw Sliema go down 2-1.

Earlier this month, Times of Malta reported that Sliema Wanderers were mulling an offer for Ohawuchi from an Egyptian club.

The offer was made by Wade Degla FC, a Cairo-based club who play in the Premier League.

Last season, Ohawuchi was joint top-scorer of the Premier League with 21 goals.

In January, Ohawuchi had a trial with Albanian team FK Kukes.

Meanwhile, Floriana have signed Giovanni Galea on a one-year loan deal from Sirens. The young striker was voted best player of Division Three last season.
