Ronald Urry and Jason Galea, who stand accused of the murder of Matthew Zahra in August last year, were granted bail this morning against a deposit of €30,000 and a personal guarantee of €30,000.

Mr Zahra was reported missing on August 15 and his remains were later found buried in a field near Birzebbuga along with those of Mario Camilleri and his son Mario.

Jason Galea is also accused of the murder of the Camilleris. He has already been granted bail in that case.  

During evidence, the court heard that Mr Galea and Mr Zahra had a dispute over money the latter had lent Mr Galea. Mr Zahra had demanded his money back and added high amounts of interest. Mr Galea then decided to kill him. According to  the police, Mr Zahra had lent Mr Galea €6,000 but wanted €500,000.

Lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri are counsel for Mr urrey and Joe Giglio is counsel for Mr Galea.
