De Jong: Borussia Monchengladbach have announced the sale of former Newcastle United forward Luuk de Jong to PSV Eindhoven. De Jong, who spent the second half of last season on loan at the Magpies, and has not scored a competitive goal in over a year, returns to the Netherlands, where he was the Eredivisie’s second-highest goalscorer in 2011/12 with 25 for FC Twente.

Lopez: Forward Adrian Lopez has sealed a move from Atletico Madrid to Porto on a five-year contract with the Portuguese club. Under the terms of the deal, Porto have paid €11 million ($15 million) to acquire all of the 26-year-old’s sporting rights and 60 per cent of his economic rights, Porto said in a statement to Portugal’s securities market commission. There is also a buyout clause of 60 million euros, they added.

MLS League: DC United moved five points clear at the top of the MLS Eastern Conference with a 2-1 victory over strugglers the San Jose Earthquakes. Eddie Johnson fired the visitors ahead from the penalty spot after 12 minutes, with Luis Silva doubling the lead in the 26th minute. The Earthquakes were on the board six minutes before the interval through Chris Wondolowski, but could not find an equaliser and have now lost eight of their 16 matches to prop up the Western Conference standings.

Pelle: Southampton have signed Italian striker Graziano Pelle on a three-year deal from Dutch side Feyenoord, the Premier League club announced yesterday. Pelle, 28, was the second highest scorer in the Dutch top-flight last season with 23 goals in 28 appearances, having previously played for AZ Alkmaar as well as Parma and Sampdoria in his homeland. He has played for Italian age-group sides but is not capped at senior level, and worked under new Southampton manager Ronald Koeman at Feyenoord.

Schlupp: Leicester defender Jeff Schlupp has signed a new three-year contract with the club. The Ghana left back enjoyed an impressive end to the 2013/14 campaign as the Foxes secured automatic promotion to the Premier League from the Championship. Schlupp joins a long list of players to commit their futures to Leicester this summer after Wes Morgan, Kasper Schmeichel, Liam Moore, David Nugent, Danny Drinkwater and Matty James all penned new deals.
