‘Neogeography and perception of seismic risk: a comparison between two case studies: Calabria (South Italy) and Malta’ is the title of a collaborative research project involving the University of Calabria and the University of Malta.

A chart presenting the scientific work was selected as best poster at the European Association of Geographers (Eurogeo 2014) conference held in Valletta in May, which attracted more than 200 papers and posters by participants from over 40 countries.

The award-winning poster presented results from part of the study investigated the perception about earthquakes and seismic risk of primary and middle school pupils in Calabria and in Malta.

The research showed interesting responses between the two groups that probably reflect the different shaking experiences between the two regions, Malta being in a less seismically active region than Calabria.
