Maria Arpa would like to have a “woman to woman” talk with Angelina Jolie in the hope she can still have her “dream wedding” at Mġarr ix-Xini in October where the superstar will be filming.

When she learnt that the Hollywood superstar would be filming on the same Gozo beach where she planned to hold her wedding ceremony, Ms Arpa took to Facebook in the hope that her fervent plea would reach the benevolent ears of Ms Jolie and her partner, Brad Pitt.

Ms Arpa said she managed to get through to Mr Pitt’s publicist. However, she was informed that he was only taking part as an actor in the film and that she needed to take the issue up with Rich Klubeck at United Talent Agency, Angelina Jolie’s publicist. “I spoke to Klubeck’s assistant but I had barely put in four sentences before he hung up on me.

“I don’t want to disrupt anything. But it would be lovely if they allow us and our 50 guests to have a wedding party at Mġarr ix-Xini,” Ms Arpa said.

“Of course Gozo should benefit from such a lucrative deal. This is just one little consequence that no one thought of and all I’m asking is: can you help me please?”

While Ms Arpa says the local council told her it would be OK to use the bay, Film Commissioner Engelbert Grech said no government entity had ever issued a permit for Ms Arpa to have her wedding at Mġarr ix-Xini.
