I am a frequent user of Triq il-Linja, Triq il-Ġonna and Triq Birkirkara, in Attard, adjoining roads that for a long time have been in such a bad state it’s like driving on the moon.

I reported the condition of these roads to our local council in April last year and they acknowledged the situation. They informed me that Triq il-Linja needed to be redone by the Water Services Corporation because something had been done wrong and, therefore, had to be changed.

With regard to Triq il-Ġonna, they said the tarmac available was not up to standard and they were waiting to hear from the suppliers. The resurfacing of Triq Birkirkara was planned to take place sometime after that.

In the meantime, I have sent three reminders to the local council. I am not blaming it 100 per cent and I do realise there is the whole village to be taken care of but we cannot continue to do damage to our cars.

Transport Malta needs to make sure that arterial roads are permanently kept in a good state and that the surface is changed at least every three years.

I only hope the above will not fall on deaf ears.
