A Chinese man was yesterday charged with running three brothels which had been advertised as massage parlours and living off the earnings of prostitution.

De Quan Feng, 52, from Guangdong, China, residing in St Paul’s Bay, pleaded not guilty.

Three Chinese women who were working in the parlours and a Maltese client caught by police testified by video conferencing.

There is a court ban on the publication of their names.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke heard that Mr Feng, who has lived in Malta for 17 years and has a Maltese passport, ran three parlours in Santa Venera, Paola and Rabat.

Police Inspectors Sylvana Briffa and Joseph Busuttil prosecuted.
