Prime Minister Joseph Muscat is currently meeting Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao in the province of Guiyan, where he will attend an eco-forum.

In introductory remarks, he said that the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries yesterday was a road map to further improve the excellent relations between the two countries.

He said the eco-forum was of particular relevance as one of the key projects of the strategic alliance between Enemalta and Shanghai Electric was a joint venture company to produce renewable energy equipment in Europe.

The joint venture was taking shape and the first project for investment had been identified, Dr Muscat said.

Dr Muscat was taken around the Guiyan industrial park, where officials spoke about the range of eco-friendly products produced there, including waste-water treatment and street lighting that uses solar energy.
