It was with sadness that I heard of the death of Anton Cassar of Marsa, a veteran journalist and a renowned writer. Cassar, who was known as a gentleman in the literal sense of the world, was a friend of Gozo.

During the few times I met him, he would talk about his love for the island. He would never miss a chance to write about some aspect of Gozo whenever the possibility arose.

He also made it a point to visit Gozo during the third week of July; he must have developed a soft spot for St George during his frequent visits to the island.

May the good Lord grant him eternal rest!
