Former EU Health Commissioner John Dalli said this afternoon that Commission President Jose' Manuel Barroso had not raised any new arguments in the court case heard in Luxembourg yesterday and today.

Emerging from today’s second and final sitting of the court, Mr Dalli said Mr Barroso and his lawyers were continuing to argue that he had resigned from the commission. Mr Barroso had argued that the whole issue was a political one because he knew that the Olaf report was a fraud, Mr Dalli said.

He said he would issue a detailed statement tomorrow.

Mr Dalli instituted the court case, claiming unfair dismissal from the commission.
