A small group of Maltese sprinters competed in the 35th Resisprint International, held at Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland on Sunday.

Diane Borg, of La Salle AC, achieved another excellent result. After making it through to the 100m ‘B’ final (12.23 seconds, -1.4 headwind), Borg placed eighth out of 39 athletes in a season’s best of 11.98 seconds (+1.1).

Running in unfavourable wind conditions, the national 100m and 200m champion finished ninth in the 200m in a time of 24.93 seconds (-3.8).

Kevin Moore, the 200m national record holder, also had to contend with the strong winds. He was classified 11th among 52 athletes after clocking 21.60 seconds (-2.9).

The winner of the first heat, Botswana’s Isaac Makwaia, benefited from better wind conditions and went out to register an impressive time of 19.96 seconds having won the 100m in 10.10 seconds (-0.1).

Two other Maltese sprinters were close to their season’s best times in the 100m.

Malta 100m champion Steve Camilleri ran the distance in 10.99 seconds (0.1) while Andy Grech clocked 11.14 seconds (0.2).
