Maypole was the sole provider of traditional Maltese food and sweets at the Mnajra festivities last weekend.

Individual stations on Saturday served fried rabbit, a variety of stews (tripe and horsemeat), a duo of suckling pig and pork leg and traditional Maltese platters.

The sweet stands included eight flavours of kannoli, including the classic ricotta filling, torrone, nocciola, lemon, cookie, berry, pistacchio and chocolate.

On Sunday morning, breakfast, which was served as early at 5am, included pastizzi with a traditional filling, along with a special filling for the occasion, made from chicken and mushroom.
