The latest issue of the University’s research magazine Think focuses on digital games research, with stories about the history of board games, how games can help resolve conflicts like bullying and how they can teach children.

This gaming issue coincides with the launch of the University’s new Institute of Digital Games, which has attracted some of the world’s best game researchers and over €1 million of external funding. It has also brought together different University faculties and departments, since game research is an interdisciplinary subject.

Another story talks about Patrick Schembri’s career. For over 30 years he has been studying fish, coral, sharks, limpets, crabs and snails, among others. His journey also takes readers around Malta’s coasts and seas, and how they have changed over the years.

In another article Lydia Buttigieg talks about Carmelo Pace, one of Malta’s unknown but more prolific composers, who penned over 500 works and taught the likes of Charles Camilleri and Maria Ghirlando.

An article on how project management can be used in everyday life is another topic tackled in this issue.

Alumni and students also tell their story in Think magazine. Students are researching how bacteria can be used to conserve stone and how robots move intelligently, while graduates write about what they did with their degree to become high achievers.

The magazine has expanded its fun section with 100 word ideas to change Malta, several reviews and a comic strip.

Readers can even send in their own fact or fiction questions to be featured in the magazine.

Think magazine is available online and may be picked up for free from newsagents and Agenda bookstores.
