St Jeanne Antide College’s Immaculate Conception School, Tarxien, has been awarded the Green Flag, an international award presented to eco-schools for promoting environmental and sustainable developmental education and healthy eco-friendly habits in their schools .

The school has carried out various environmental initiatives over the past years.

These included installing a water reservoir in the school yard to collect rainwater to be used for school cleaning and gardening purposes and establishing a ‘No waste’ policy for food and drink-related activities carried out at school. This means students have to bring reusable cups, plates and napkins so that the amount of waste generated during school activities is kept at a minimum.

Other initiatives include waste separation in classrooms, embellishing the school yard with plants and flowers, producing a video to encourage people to clean up valleys, organising eco-days during the year and promoting environmental care through dance and drama at the annual school concert.
