On the proposal to extend schooling beyond the age of 16, it is ridiculous to believe that forcing the 21st century generation to keep occupying school chairs will ever be effective.

A curriculum needs to be drawn up for all students (without any exceptions) where learning skills, trades and literacy would become almost inevitable.

For students with a ‘difference’, a different approach is needed.

I propose that youths who are 16 years old and over are ‘encouraged’ to enter a programme with the sole aim of self-improvement, by giving them a basic wage. Not only, but with each development there would be an increment.

Money is a language that these young people will understand.

It might sound like a luxury but surely it would be profitable in the long run for our next generation, minimising unemployment, corruption and substance abuse, among others.
