In his last article, Martin Scicluna takes on the Church in Malta for pleading for its voice to be heard.
His approach is frank and frontal but subtle nonetheless.
He assumes quite gratuitously that by the application of one’s reasoning and intelligence the voice of the Church is snuffed out and attributes this to the fact that the Church is an organisation badly run. He follows by offering counsels proper to a Sunningdale-trained liberal civil servant.
However, he misses the central point and that is the spiritual dimension of the Church that was founded by Jesus Christ.
