Until 15 years ago, Electrofix was a one-person show, performing electrical and mechanical jobs. Today it has established itself as one of the leading companies on the island in the electrical and mechanical sector.

Having also branched into alternative energy eight years ago, today Electrofix is a leader in the alternative energy sector. Electrofix is behind some of the largest photovoltaic system installations in the last few years, including installations at the Private Schools Association, Malta International Airport and MCAST.

The company was also responsible for the installation of a multi megawatt photovoltaic project at the Medserv solar farm.

Medserv has used the vast roof space on its warehouses at its base in the Malta Freeport for this project. The 2.01 MWp roof-mounted solar farm consists of 8,000 Conergy photovoltaic panels. The system will produce an average of 3,420 MW hours per year, and is expected to save 3,100 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually. This is the only photovoltaic project in Malta of such a scale and installed as one whole system. The panels are only the aesthetic impression of the project. Behind the scenes lies an impressive engineering piece of work backed by Electrofix engineers, draught persons, project managers and installers.

This year, Electrofix has also branched out in the petroleum service station sector. The new Electrofix Petroleum Division commenced works on the design, supply and installation of fuel stations equipment for inland and marine fuel supply. Specialised and skilled engineers have been recruited to run this division with the support and backing of renowned international suppliers. Recently Electrofix was awarded an important inland and marine fuel supply project, the first of its kind, to be completed in the last quarter of 2014.
